Ah the versatile Sprite. It’s great for a refreshing summer bev or a pre-drinking mixer with a dash of vodka.
But the taste of the much loved lemon-lime drink is changing.
Coca-Cola, which owns the drink, is altering the recipe for our cinema refreshment staple and we aren’t too sure how to feel about it.
The new flavour will be brought in to ensure consumers can taste the difference between the original Sprite flavour and the Zero Sugar version.
The taste of both Sprite and Sprite Zero Sugar will have the lemon-lime flavour enhanced, the company said, but in order to tell the two beverages apart, the Zero Sugar option will have a lighter taste profile.

But it’s not just the taste that will be changing. Hold on to your seats, because the packaging is also set to have a revamp.
The new design will make it clearer which Sprite is the original and which Sprite is sugar-free.
This is just one of the many recent changes being made by our beloved brands in the food and drink industry and it’s all getting a bit tricky to keep up with.
Did we mention the Dairy Milk Egg ‘n’ Spoons have been axed by Cadbury? And just as we approach Easter too!
‘The refreshed taste will be accompanied by the roll-out of a new packaging design that brings a clean and stylish edge to the classic Sprite look, with sleek new white and black text that will clearly differentiate Sprite and Sprite Zero Sugar whilst delivering impact on shelf,’ Coca-Cola Europacific Partners GB, vice president of commerical development, Martin Attock said.

We have a feeling we are going to find it a lot easier to come to terms with the change in packaging than the change in taste.
But maybe the new flavour will win us over, we’ll be sure to taste test it when the cans hit the shelves!
