Taylor Swift threatens to sue student who tracks her private jet
A student known for monitoring the flight movements of celebrities’ private jets faces legal action from Taylor Swift’s legal team over his online sharing of her flight details.
Jack Sweeney uses publicly accessible data to track the departures and arrivals of aircraft owned by affluent individuals, posting them online with a one-day delay.
Swift’s lawyers argue that this tracking constitutes “stalking.”
In 2022, X (formerly Twitter) suspended Sweeney’s account following allegations by Elon Musk that he disclosed Musk’s “assassination coordinates.”
Swift’s legal representatives have sent a cease-and-desist letter to Sweeney, a 21-year-old student at the University of Central Florida, demanding that he stop disclosing the whereabouts of her private jet.

Issued in December, the letter asserts that such information presents “a direct threat to the safety and security” of Swift, describing it as a matter of “life or death” for her.
It references numerous instances of stalking she has encountered throughout her career, saying that the data provides potential criminals with “a blueprint to execute their intentions.”
Sweeney said that he received the letter after media outlets began scrutinising Swift’s carbon footprint.
