The drive for Syrian independence has been thrust upon us in a matter of weeks. Something the rebels weren’t able to do for years. But this weekend Syrian rebels seized the capital city of Damascus on Sunday as President Bashar al-Assad’s regime collapsed in the face of the insurgents’ stunning offensive across the country.
The latest court ruling in the United States suggest that Tik Tok is on the verge of being banned in the United States, impacting millions of influencers.
In other news the big Mastercard lawsuit that was supposed to be a big payout has been settled as millions of customers were expecting a huge payout from the lawsuit, which will no longer come. This is good news for all the banks who use mastercard, not s good for the customers.
Syrian Independence – The drive to freedom
The Syrian rebels proclaimed that “the city of Damascus is free of the former president Bashar al-Assad” and that “Assad has fled” after various factions encircled the capital from the north and the south.
How did they manage to do this?
The simple answer is that with the help of Israeli and US help the terrorist groups have been able to bomb there way into the Syrian capital.
The Russian foreign ministry said Assad had resigned, left the country, and ordered a peaceful transition of power after the fall of Damascus.
Tiktok to be banned in the US
TikTok has lost an appeal against plans to ban the video-sharing app in the US. The petition was dismissed on Friday by the US Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia Circuit.
This case demonstrates how much information the social media companies collect and how much tracking and tracing Meta and X are able to do on their platforms.
The case earlier in the year ruled that TikTok must break ties with its China-based parent company ByteDance by mid-January – or else it will be blocked in the country. Which means it must be sold to an American company and Musk and Trump are in the running to take advantage.
This case is far more complex than the just a case of freedom of expression. It has been supported by the American media agents who have lost huge market share to Chinese company. Significantly, the US loses control of all the social media data that it collects from the other social media giants.
This is going to cost American influencers millions in revenue, who use the platform to make a livelihood.
