Sylvester Stallone is prepared to do whatever it takes to ensure that his Hollywood career doesn’t interfere with his family life.
The Rocky actor has taken the lead in epic new Paramount+ series Tulsa King, beside Garrett Hedlund and Dana Delany, playing New York gangster Dwight Manfredi, who is released from prison after two decades behind bars, and promptly sent to scope out the crime scene in Tulsa.
Discussing the project in a new interview, the 76-year-old explained that the ‘unexpected’ role had led him to huge realizations within his own family – with wife Jennifer Flavin and their daughters, Sophia, Sistine and Scarlet, and his sons Sage and Seargeoh from a previous marriage.
‘In the past few years when you find yourself obsessing about, oh what’s the next move? How do I compete with this situation or this character or this guy’s getting this role, and I said, “Jesus Christ, what does it matter?”’ he began.
‘Because the things that really matter, the things that are actually your flesh and blood are moving on.
‘The priority is the things that you’re responsible for. You brought them on this planet. You must guard them with your life.’

Despite commanding the big screen for several decades, Sly insisted that he would give up his lifestyle in a heartbeat if it had a negative impact on his loved ones.
‘It’s life changing because it made me realize that I would do this, but my family comes first,’ he added to Entertainment Tonight. ‘I would give this up tomorrow if it interfered with my relationship and the values of my family, like this, without hesitation.’

The Expendables star’s marriage to Jennifer was thrown into the spotlight earlier this year, after the model announced that she had filed for divorce.
The news came as a shock to fans as they couple had only recently celebrated their 25-year wedding anniversary.

However, they were able to work through their issues and rekindled their romance last month, and have been loved-up ever since.
Appearing at the New York premiere of Tulsa King earlier this week, surrounded by his family, Sly offered her a shout-out in front of a packed audience.
‘I’m so happy that my kids are seeing me still upright and working,’ he laughed. ‘Thank you very much, my incredible wife who makes all the right decisions while I make the wrong ones.
