Susanna Reid has aired her sympathy towards Prince Harry and Meghan Markle after being pursued by photographers herself.
The Good Morning Britain presenter had been discussing the Duke and Duchess of Sussex’s upcoming Netflix docuseries following the explosive first-look trailers, which feature clips of paparazzi.
Speaking on Tuesday’s programme, Reid voiced compassion for Harry and Meghan given that she has also endured the ‘horrible’ experience of being followed by press.’
‘I’ve been in a car and I know there has been a photographer in a car following me,’ she told co-star Robert Rinder, and guests Kevin McKenzie and Andrew Pierce, to which McKenzie pointed out the images wouldn’t be used.
‘I understand there’s a remedy after the effect, but what I’m saying is that didn’t stop the fact that it happened at the time,’ she hit back.

‘If you’re involved in a news story, and I’m not just talking about celebrities, press photographers will be outside of your house,’ Reid continued.
‘It can be a pretty horrible experience and I think a lot of people watching don’t realise it can be a horrible experience,’ she continued.
‘I just watch Harry and Meghan and that is times a billion. I can see the point they are trying to make, which is it’s actually not very nice to be under this scrutiny relentlessly.’
Harry & Meghan, which is billed as an ‘unprecedented and in-depth documentary series’ is set to debut on the streaming platform on Thursday.
Ahead of the series launch, the one-minute teaser was released on Monday and shows the couple attending public events as well as private behind-the-scenes moments.

Clips of paparazzi appear in the trailer for Harry & Meghan (Picture: Netflix)
In one section of the footage, clips of paparazzi are paralleled alongside old footage of Harry’s mother, Princess Diana being followed by the media as Harry says in a voiceover: ‘The pain and suffering of women marrying into this institution, this feeding frenzy.
‘I was terrified, I didn’t want history to repeat itself.’
Parts of the trailer, however, have come under fire after it was alleged that unrelated footage was used.
One of the clips shown to illustrate his words appears to be actually of members of the press awaiting TV star Katie Price arriving outside Crawley Magistrates Court.

Another snippet of the trailer shows photographers huddling around a car as Meghan says, referring to the royal household, ‘I realised they are never going to protect you.’
Rather than depicting the royal couple being hounded, the clip seems to be of Donald Trump’s former lawyer Michael Cohen being photographed.
Good Morning Britain airs weekdays at 6am on ITV and Harry & Meghan will be available to stream from December 8 on Netflix.
