Stanley Johnson has said âanimal welfareâ goes hand in hand with âchild welfareâ, as the father-of-six appeared on Fridayâs Good Morning Britain.
While he had intended to speak about campaigns for animals, Ben Shephard and Kate Garraway couldnât help but grill him about his son Boris, who has just welcomed his eighth child.
The ITV hosts began questioning whether Boris was âmischievousâ growing up, following recent news that the former Prime Minister hasnât produced WhatsApps during the pandemic because he âforgotâ his passcode.
âI sense a trap right now,â Stanley began, as the discussion turned towards his son.
When asked by Ben if Boris, 59, was âmischievousâ as a child, the former politician replied: âI came in here to talk about animal welfare, I suppose you could say child welfare is all part of it.â
He went on: âIâve been a very fortunate man, in so many respects.
âIn fact, I say to myself âWhat on Earth have I done to enjoy this good fortune?ââ

He added: âIâm just saying, I have no cause for complaint. Itâs been a challenging existence.â
Ben probed: âBeing Borisâ dad?!â
Stanley continued by clarifying he meant âeverythingâ, and that he wasnât going to complain about his life.
Kate replied: âYou donât have to complain, we just wondered if he was mischievous when he was younger!â
âI canât see that,â the Iâm A Celebrity said.
âI canât see that there was anything which particularly I could say, âYeah that was deliberately mischievous.â
Stanley refused to âspeculateâ on Boris returning to politics (Picture: PA)
âDid he shorten my stirrups for example, and then I got on the horse only to find my stirrups had been shortened.
âThat would be mischievous â but I donât think he did it.â
Stanley went on to recall Borisâ time as Prime Minister during the pandemic, in which he was hospitalised when he had Covid-19.
When asked if he thought Boris would return to politics, he added: âIâm not speculating anything.â
He then joked about speculating how many grandchildren he had: âEverytime you change your will, it costs you £500!â
Good Morning Britain airs weekdays from 6am on ITV1.
