Serena Williams to miss US Open on ‘advice of my doctors’ after tearing hamstring earlier in the season
The i says Serena Williams’ quest to equal Margaret Court’s all-time grand slam title record will go on into 2022 after she was forced to withdraw from the US Open.
Williams, who has won 23 major titles in her career and is just one behind the controversial Australian, had been hoping to draw level at Flushing Meadows, her home slam and the venue where she won her first back in 1999.
However, the American was forced to pull out of the tournament the day before the draw, citing an injury she first suffered in July in London.
