Brad Pitt being the number one heartthrob is a thing of the past, at least according to Shania Twain who’s revealed her new celebrity crush.
The country singer famously name-dropped Hollywood actor Brad on her 1997 classic hit That Don’t Impress Me Much, telling her vain yet good looking admirer: ‘Okay, so you’re Brad Pitt.’
Well, she gave the line a little remix during her performance at the People’s Choice Awards on Tuesday evening, and swapped Brad for another Hollywood heartthrob sitting in the audience.
‘OK, so you’re Ryan Reynolds,’ she sang at the actor, who was visibly shocked and flattered in equal measure, mouthing ‘oh my God, me?’ before laughing sheepishly.
Of course, Shania, 57, and Ryan, 46, have somewhat of an automatic connection with both proudly hailing from Canada. However, it was all friendly banter as Deadpool actor Ryan is happily married to actress Blake Lively, who is expecting their fourth child, and Shania married to businessman Frédéric Thiébaud.
Shania rocked the audience with a medley of her biggest hits, including Any Man of Mine – a crossover of her iconic hits That Don’t Impress Me Much and Man! I Feel Like a Woman! – as well as her new single Waking Up Dreaming.
It was a particularly special night for the popstar, who stunned on the red carpet in a sheer dress flashing her solid abs, as she was honoured with the music icon award.
After being introduced by her friend and Pose star Billy Porter, Shania said in her lengthy acceptance speech: ‘Am I dreaming? I really am, I think. Thank you so much for presenting me with this award and for highlighting my work as having a significant impact. I’m not sure if that’s the right thing to say, but that’s always my wish: to inspire people with my music.

‘I always miss my mother right now at these moments in life. She would have loved watching her little girl living this moment right now. But my fans, my friends, my team – you are the ones who really fill that space.’
Shania recalled how she used music as a form of ‘escapism’ when she was a child, and that it ‘never occurred’ to her how powerful lyrics can become.
‘It’s a great honour to be respected as a songwriter,’ she told the audience.
‘But the biggest honour for me is knowing people have found strength and inspiration in what I have to sing, in my work. So thank you, I love you for that.’
