Shakira has sent an empowering message to her fans after welcoming in 2023.
The Hips Don’t Lie hitmaker, 45, had a rollercoaster of a year in 2022, as she announced her split from Gerard Pique after 11 years of marriage.
Footballer Gerard, 35, and the Waka Waka songstress had quite the bitter separation, but it’s now understood that Shakira will move back to Miami with their children, Sasha, seven, and Milan, nine.
Reflecting on 2022, Shakira ventured into her Notes app to pen some motivational words about healing and self-worth.
She began: ‘Even if our wounds are still open in this new year, time has a surgeon’s hands.’
‘Even if someone’s betrayed us, we must continue to trust others.

‘When faced with contempt, continue to know your worth.’
The musician added: ‘Because there are more good people than indecent ones. More people with empathy than indifference.
‘The ones who leave are fewer than the many who stay by our side.’
Shakira concluded: ‘Our tears are not in vain they water the soil our future will spring from and make us more human, so that even while suffering heartache we can continue to love.’
The Colombia-born performer was met with love and warmth from her 78.1million Instagram followers, with plenty vowing to ‘always’ support her.
‘A poet turned into a singer. We love you queen!!!’, commented one fan.
‘This is something I didn’t know I needed to read’, thanked another.
Shakira’s 2022 was certainly full of testing moments as, alongside her divorce, she’s faced other legal woes after alleged tax fraud.
The Whenever, Wherever singer is accused of failing to pay taxes to Spain between 2012 and 2014, with Shakira claiming she did not live in the country during this period.

A representative for Shakira later told Metro.co.uk that they will fight to prove her innocence, insisting she has ‘always abided by the law’.
It’s not known when the trial will begin but, last July, prosecutors called for an eight-year prison sentence and multi-million euro fine for the star.

Meanwhile, she’ll be navigating single life after signing her and Gerard’s child custody agreement at the start of December.
Appearing in court in Barcelona, the former couple arrived and left separately to finalise legal proceedings, which came after previous negotiations reportedly lasted until the early hours of the morning, with Catalan daily El Periodico describing their talks as ‘intense.’
