Police search for missing Sydney couple’s bodies
Australian authorities are searching a secluded property for the bodies of a television presenter and his partner, following their presumed murders last week.
Investigators say Jesse Baird and Luke Davies were murdered at the hands of a serving police officer in a Sydney residence last Monday.
Senior Constable Beaumont Lamarre-Condon, who was previously romantically involved with Baird, faces charges of two counts of murder. He has not yet addressed the allegations.
Divers from the police force are exploring water bodies approximately 185km (115 miles) from Sydney.
Law enforcement officials suspect that Lamarre-Condon, 28, might have deposited the victims’ bodies on the remote Bungonia property, transporting them in a white rental van from the suspected crime scene at Baird’s residence.
In a statement released on Monday, New South Wales Police revealed that the suspected perpetrator had escorted an “acquaintance” to the Bungonia property the previous Wednesday.
She “wasn’t aware the bodies were in the vehicle” and has been cooperating with detectives, Deputy Commissioner David Hudson said.
Authorities are also probing whether Lamarre-Condon revisited the site and relocated the bodies subsequently.
The suspect was observed purchasing an angle grinder and weights from different stores on the same Wednesday, the deputy commissioner added.
