PM Modi to visit site of India bridge collapse
India’s PM Modi will visit the Morbi district in India’s western state of Gujarat where a bridge collapsed.
The colonial-era bridge collapsed into the Machchu river on Sunday, killing more than a hundred people, just days after it was reopened after repairs.
Rescue teams are still searching the river. The collapse is one of the worst accidents in years.
Arrests made in India bridge collapse
Nine people, including employees of a firm used to maintain the bridge, have been arrested.
So far, 135 people are confirmed to have died – most women, children and elderly people.
134 bodies have been recovered, and teams and locals continue to search the river.
At least 170 people were rescued.
There will be a day of mourning in the state on Wednesday.
