Piers Morgan blasted Matt Hancock’s hefty I’m A Celebrity…Get Me Out of Here! sum as the politician’s controversial stint intensifies.
The former health minister caused quite the stir when it was revealed he’ll also be heading into the jungle as a late arrival alongside comedian Seann Walsh, joining fellow members of the cast including royal Mike Tindall, singer Boy George, Love Island star Olivia Attwood and radio DJ Chris Moyles.
Although bookies predicted that he’ll outdo any other celeb in terms of being voted for all the Bushtucker trials, it’s been claimed that he might be ruled out of some of them on medical grounds, after reportedly getting trench foot while filming SAS: Who Dares Wins.
It was also reported that the disgraced politician will be getting a cheque of around £400,000 for his time on the show, which is back in Australia after two years away.
‘Matt’s pay deal with I’m A Celebrity is around £400,000 which is one of the largest ever show fees to have been paid out,’ an insider said.
‘ITV was keen for viewers to think the deal was worth around £150,000 but in reality it’s over double that,’ a source added to The Sun.
Following the news, Piers called out Mr Hancock’s astonishing fee on social media and branded it ‘disgusting.’
He tweeted: ‘How can someone who failed the country so abysmally during the pandemic, & got caught breaking his own lockdown rules, now rake in this kind of money for eating kangaroo bollocks in Australia when he should be doing his job as an MP?
A political ally close to Mr Hancock has recently shared that he intends to support St Nicholas Hospice Care with his pay cheque for taking part, a charity he raised almost £8,000 for at last year’s London Marathon.
‘Matt will be making a donation to St Nicholas Hospice in Suffolk, and he will, of course, declare the amount he receives from the show to Parliament to ensure complete transparency, as normal,’ a source told Metro.co.uk.

Mr Hancock’s I’m A Celeb appearance has been met with intense scrutiny from the likes of Loose Women’s Denise Welch and political journalist Andrew Pierce.
During Wednesday’s edition of his titular show Uncensored, Mogan dubbed Mr Hancock an ‘attention-seeking, perma-grinning, gopher of a man.’

‘I never thought I’d say this, but I actually feel sorry for the kangaroo testicles,’ he said.
A Tory in Mr Hancock’s West Suffolk constituency said he is looking forward to seeing the former health secretary ‘eating a kangaroo’s penis’ while a West Suffolk Conservative councillor, said he has ‘no shame’.
I’m A Celebrity…Get Me Out Of Here begins on November 6 on ITV.
