Universities clamp down on offers after A-level grade inflation fiasco
The Times says selective universities are getting tougher on recruitment this year after squeezing in more students than expected last autumn because of the A-level grading fiasco.
Students are less likely to get an offer from an elite university than this time last year, an analysis by The Times shows. Just over two thirds of applications to those with the highest ranking had resulted in offers by June 30 this year, compared with almost three quarters at the same stage last year.
