Boris Johnson SAVED: Tory plotters’ desperate bid to oust PM in no confidence vote fails
Daily Express says BORIS JOHNSON clings onto power, seeing off a plot by rebel Tories to oust him from No10 in what he declared a “convincing result”.
The embattled Prime Minister has secured his position for at least another 12 months under party rules after a majority of Conservative MPs backed him to stay on in the top job. Tory parliamentarians voted by 211 to 148 in favour of Boris Johnson remaining as party leader.
Mr Johnson said the outcome meant: “We can move on and focus on the stuff that really matters.”
However, the huge number of MPs who voted against will seriously wound his ability to govern.
