The FT says Israel has formed an emergency war cabinet ahead of an expected infantry offensive against Hamas. Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has joined forces with centre-right opponent Benny Gantz of the National Unity party.
The paper also reports on how people’s everyday lives have changed in Israel since the attack by Hamas on Saturday. It says the streets are deserted and “fear and uncertainty” have taken over.
Elsewhere, in the UK, the paper reports that the scale of the Labour Party’s “flagship £28bn ‘green prosperity plan’ has been cut further” as shadow ministers push back its timing and reduce its expected scope by as much as £8bn a year.
