Manchester United youngster Zidane Iqbal is keen to leave the club on loan this month.
The 19-year-old midfielder impressed during the club’s pre-season campaign, featuring in four of Erik ten Hag’s first six matches for the club as they prepared for the new campaign.
The Iraq international made the matchday squad for each of United’s Europa League group games, also named on the bench four times in the Premier League, but has not played a minute of first-team football this season.
His only appearance to date for the club was in the Champions League group stage clash with Young Boys in December 2021 and was once again an unused substitute in the Carabao Cup quarter-final win over Charlton on Tuesday, with 17-year-old Kobbie Mainoo handed his full debut.
The Manchester Evening News report the midfielder is now seeking loan move in order to get some competitive playing time under his belt for the rest of the season.
However, ten Hag is eager to keep his squad intact with the club still competing on four fronts.
Summer signings Casemiro and Christian Eriksen have proven to be successful acquisitions but with Scott McTominay and Fred the manager’s only alternatives in the middle of the park, he is wary of leaving himself short.

Staff at United have looked to next season as the time for Iqbal to leave on loan, believing it to be beneficial for him to stay and train with the senior squad.
Allowing him to leave this month and been recently debated at Carrington.
Another of United’s young stars in Facundo Pellistri has also been linked with a loan move away.
Two-and-a-half years on from being signed by the club, the Uruguay international made his debut in the 3-0 win over Charlton, providing an excellent assist for Marcus Rashford late on.
Championship side Watford are hoping to sign the 21-year-old on loan until the end of the season but ten Hag has suggested he could still have a role to play at Old Trafford this term.
Asked if Pellistri would be kept beyond January, Ten Hag said: ‘I see a future in him and he is doing really well and we have to see what is the best.’
