A man has been charged after stabbing three commuters who tried to stop a robbery in central London.
Louis Parkinson, 25, stands accused of conspiracy to commit robbery, grievous bodily harm with intent, possession of an offensive weapon and possession of a Class B controlled drug.
He was detained in Islington, north London, yesterday morning, following the incident in Bishopsgate last Thursday.
Witnesses said they watched a group of two or three masked knifemen attacking a pedestrian, with ‘hero’ members of the public jumping in to intervene.
The victims were taken to hospital but did not suffer any life-threatening injuries.
Cyclist Toby Hamand, 36, who helped kick the bicycle wheel of one of the suspects, said he had a 6cm knife waved in his face.
He told The Telegraph: ‘He held it in his fist and sort of raised his hand up to sort of show me and I immediately was like, ‘Okay, not going anywhere near this”.’
He added: ‘At the same time, you know, it makes me feel good that people got involved. Like bystanders didn’t just let it happen.’

Colin Bishop, of the City of London Police Major Crime Team, said: ‘A search warrant was executed last night in connection with a second suspect who is actively being sought and the investigation continues.’
Detectives are still appealing for witnesses to come forward.
