Maine mass shooting: At least 16 feared dead in US city of Lewiston
A massive manhunt is underway in the US after a mass shooting which has reportedly killed at least 16 people in the US city of Lewiston, Maine.
A search for the gunman is underway. He has been named as Robert Card, 40, and is considered a person of interest and police say he should be considered “armed and dangerous.”
The shootings began at 18:56 local time (22:56 GMT) on Wednesday at a bowling alley and a restaurant, police said.
Lewiston residents, as well as those in the nearby town of Lisbon, have been told to shelter in place.
The death toll is still unconfirmed but sources suggest at least 16 people are dead and around 50 people injured.
Lewiston has a population of around 38,000 people and is the second-largest city in Maine after Portland.
