Madonna was overcome with emotion while recalling people ‘predicting’ she would die after she suffered a health emergency earlier this year.
The Like A Virgin hitmaker, 65, was reportedly ‘found unresponsive’ after contracting a ‘serious bacterial infection’, with her daughter Lourdes, 27, remaining at her mother’s side.
She was admitted to intensive care, rescheduling her global tour after recovering from the terrifying ordeal.
Taking to the stage in Belgium, the pop icon reflected on the health scare, telling the audience how it felt that people around her were talking about the possibility of her dying.
‘Less than four months ago, I was in a hospital and I was unconscious, and people were thinking, predicting that I might not make it,’ she said to the audience at Sportpaleis in Merksem, reports Billboard.
‘It’s a f*****g miracle that I’m here right now. My mother, god bless her, she must be watching over me – she said, “Girl, it’s not your time to go.”‘

‘I had this strange thought. I suddenly had sympathy for my mother, not about the dying part, but how lonely she must have felt being in hospital, knowing that she wasn’t going to live,’ she heartbreakingly added.
She described her survival as ‘being given another chance’, but admitted to not feeling well during the performance.
‘I was given another chance, so I’m very grateful for that,’ she continued. ‘I must tell you I don’t feel very well right now, but I can’t complain, because I’m alive. Thank god for my children and all of your love and support.’
During a show at London’s O2 Arena, Madonna revealed she ‘didn’t think she was going to make it’ in between belting out some of the biggest hits from across her career.
‘I want to say it was a crazy year for me as well. And I didn’t think I was gonna make it. Neither did my doctors. That’s why I woke up with all of my children sitting around me,’ she told the audience.

‘I forgot five days of my life… or my death, I don’t really know where I was. But the angels were protecting me and my children were there. And my children always save me, every time.’
The multi-Grammy Award winner continued, revealing what she felt was the reason why she survived.
‘If you want to know my secret, and you want to know how I pulled through and how I survived, I thought, “I’ve got to be there for my children. I have to survive for them,”’ she said.
Celebrating her 65th birthday, the Material Girl singer praised being ‘alive’ following her health struggles.
She wrote: ‘It’s great to be Alive………….. and Amazing to Be able to put on my dancing shoes and Celebrate my Birthday!
‘I’m So Grateful. Thank you Lisbon and to all who made it possible!’
