Americans may be late to the party, but a crisp sandwich is a soft-yet-crunchy culinary delight.
And there’s good news if a crisp sarnie is your guilty pleasure.
Walkers has just announced that it’s partnering with a selection of UK sandwich shops on June 12, to encourage people to get more experimental with their crisp and sando combinations.
The shops will be located across the UK for one week only and feature a menu of unique crisp sandwich creations, with regional specialities created by each venue – including by London-based ‘sandwich guru’ and Max’s Sandwich Shop owner, Max Halley.

Sandwich shops in Glasgow, Liverpool and Brighton will also be involved with the event – with exact locations soon to be revealed.
According to the snack brand’s research, 98% of UK adults believe that crisps make sandwiches better – so it’s clear the collaborations will have widespread appeal.

But it’s not just traditional Walkers Crisps that will be on offer – there will also be sandwich combinations with Quavers, Wotsits, and Monster Munch and more.
In fact, highlights include Max Halley’s ‘Mighty Monster Muncher’, a Monster Munch-filled fish finger sandwich, with cabbage, chipotle mayonnaise and Pico De Gallo on home-baked Focaccia.
Philippa Pennington at Walkers said: ‘Last year the residents of Sandwich voted “Crisp In” as the winning combination, but this year we’re widening the debate to showcase the wide range of crisp and sandwich combinations – from classic Walkers crisps through to Wotsits and Monster Munch.
‘With Walkers Sandwich Shops located across the UK, we’re calling on people to head to their nearest shop, taste the sandwiches and have their say online by sharing their favourite combination from the menu, or favourite crisps to enjoy in a sandwich.’
