Lorraine Kelly has been forced to miss her own TV show today after falling ill with a bug.
The announcement was made by Kate Garraway on Good Morning Britain, who also revealed that another TV presenter had ‘come to the rescue’ to take the broadcaster’s place at the last minute.
At around 20 past eight, Kate explained that usually at this point of the programme, she and her co-host Ed Balls would turn to Lorraine to find out what’s going to be covered in her show from 9am on ITV.
‘In almost a first in her 30-year-plus history on breakfast TV, she’s actually gone home. She’s not well,’ Kate said.
Ed added that Lorraine did come into the ITV studio, but has gone home again after feeling too unwell to host her programme.
‘She’s got a bug,’ Kate continued. ‘We’re wishing you very well Lorraine. I hope you’re getting better.’

As Ed gestured that he was sending support through the TV screen, Kate revealed that Ranvir Singh would be replacing Lorraine from 9am.
‘Ranvir is to the rescue though, she’s on her way in to get herself ready for the show, so she’ll be here,’ she said.
Kate added how lucky it was that Ranvir was available to step into Lorraine’s shoes at what appears to have been less than an hour’s notice, getting out of bed so that she could help.

In a tweet, Lorraine expressed how disappointed she was to miss out on interviewing singing superstar Adam Lambert on Wednesday’s programme.
‘When you have to be sent home from work early in the morning because you are suddenly attacked by a hideous bug and were looking forward to interviewing @adamlambert,’ she wrote.
‘THAT! Beyond disappointed but imagine if I had infected him !!!!!!’
Several people wished Lorraine better, including singer Aled Jones, who wrote: ‘Get well soon lovely x.’
