LIVE – PM faces liaison committee
Why is Boris Johnson facing more questions today? And what is the liaison committee?
It’s been a long day for the prime minister, and his final hurdle is more questions from MPs – from the Liaison Committee of select committee chairmen and women.
What’s the point?
The job is to ask the PM questions about policy, it’ll be chaired by Sir Bernard Jenkins MP.
Last night the PM saw the resignation of two senior cabinet members – Rishi Sunak and Sajid Javid. Since then there has been a flurry of resignations rolling in. The PM faced a difficult and uncomfortable Prime Minister’s Questions today – followed by a brutal resignation speech delivered from the backbenches by Sajid Javid.
The liaison committee is made up of MPs who chair all the other select committees (health, education, defence etc).
