A Lidl customer had a nasty surprise after opening a block of cheddar to find it covered in mould.
Allan Antonio, 35, visited his local branch of the supermarket in Edinburgh and bought the packet on October 31.
One day later, he opened it up to find the furry growth where there should have just been tasty cheese.
He said the £2.65 cheese had been in his fridge the whole time, so it must have been like that when he bought it on Easter Road in Leith.
Receptionist Allen told Edinburgh Live: ‘When I opened it to use it there was green mould on it.
‘I still have my receipt and have complained to the store.’

A spokesperson for Lidl GB said: ‘We were very sorry to hear of this matter, as it is never our intention for a customer to be dissatisfied in any way.
‘We work very closely with our suppliers to ensure that the products we sell are of the highest possible quality for our customers.
‘We are, therefore, disappointed if our expected high standards were not met on this occasion.
‘Our Quality Assurance team are in direct contact with the customer so that that a full and thorough investigation can be carried out.’
