The Financial Times reports that Rishi Sunak has promised a new law “within weeks” to overturn the convictions of sub-postmasters and sub-postmistresses involved in the Post Office Horizon scandal, the paper describes the legislation as “unprecedented”.
It adds that the scandal had “brewed for years” under governments of all political parties and that Mr Sunak was “forced into action” by the ITV drama that aired last week. It also quotes him calling the affair “one of the greatest miscarriages of justice in our nation’s history”.
