Jay Z rips into the Grammys for snubbing Beyonce in blistering on-stage rant
During his acceptance speech at the 2024 Grammys, Jay Z took the opportunity to criticise the awards for overlooking his wife Beyonce. The 54-year-old rap legend, Shawn Carter, was honoured with the Dr Dre Global Impact Award, recognising his contributions to music.
On stage, he was joined by his and Beyonce’s eldest daughter, 12-year-old Blue Ivy.
Jay Z did not shy away from addressing the Grammys’ oversight of Beyonce, 42, who is the most-awarded artist but has never won the coveted Album of the Year award.
He expressed his desire for the Grammys to “get it right” and emphasised their love for the awards while urging them to come closer to accuracy.
