Prosecutors ramp up human trafficking charges against Andrew Tate
Andrew Tate’s human trafficking charges have been ramped up by Romania’s anti-organised crime unit, along with the charges against his brother Tristan and two associates.
The investigation has now expanded into the more severe offence of “human trafficking in continued form.”
Officials announced that another victim has been included in the case, which initially involved six women.
The Tate brothers were initially arrested in December on charges of rape, human trafficking, and the formation of an organised crime group. Since April, the brothers and their associates have been placed under house arrest in Bucharest.
On June 12, all four suspects were summoned to the headquarters of Romania’s organised crime unit to be informed about the name charges. Under Romanian law, trafficking of adults carries a potential prison sentence of up to 10 years.
Separately, prosecutors have started a criminal investigation against a Romanian man named Vlad Obuzic, who was allegedly closely associated with the Tate brothers.
He faces accusations of human trafficking and the formation of a criminal group involved in the sexual exploitation of seven women.
