While international mediators talk of renewed hopes for a ceasefire, the situation on the ground in Gaza tells a far darker story – one of continued devastation, rising casualties, and a humanitarian crisis with no end in sight.
No Hamas members were in sight or reported in the area. Only blood and dead bodies of innocent Palestinian civilians caused by a devastating missile strike which tore up the ground and everyone around it.
On Monday, one of Gaza City’s few remaining beachfront cafes – a rare location still offering reliable internet access – was hit in a deadly airstrike. The goal for the IDF – move everyone away from northern Gaza so the ground invasion can begin.
The cafe was crowded at the time, and was popular with Palestinian university students.
According to emergency workers, at least 22 people were killed in the attack.
Full scale invasion of northern Gaza
In recent days there has been a marked escalation in the IDF’s military campaign to take over Gaza, with a full scale invasion of northern Gaza.
More than 100 were killed in airstrikes over the weekend, and several were killed in shootings at aid distribution sites. With goal, move people away so the IDF can roll in with a full scale ground invasion.
The Israelis have said they are investigating the deaths of unarmed civilians, they have admitted harming and killing several people but deny there have been hundreds of deaths, as has been claimed by the UN.
The doctors treating the wounded have started warning that it is no longer just bombs that are the biggest threat to life in Gaza.
