Hollyoaks star Jamie Lomas has received support from fans online after he announced the tragic news that his ‘hero’ father has died.
The actor, who is best known for his role as Warren Fox in the Channel 4 soap, confirmed his heartbreaking loss on social media Saturday alongside a sweet black and white photo with his late dad, in which he lovingly wrapped his arm around him.
‘My best mate. My hero. RIP DAD. A true legend. A sad day ❤,’ Jamie captioned the upload.
The actor has been inundated with messages of condolence since sharing the news, with Hollyoaks star Gary Lucy replying: ‘My Brother …I’m so sorry to see this … from one loving Daddy to another…
‘All we can hope for is to pass on to the next in line as much as we possibly can “do as I say not as I did” – is one of my favourites…. your daddy I’m sure will be proud as punch to tell every one of his family n friends in the next life what a wonderful son you are … little s**t at times obvs … but who would change you ?…. Not ya Daddy or anyone that knows n loves you … that’s for sure [sic].’
Former EastEnders actor Richard Blackwood added: ‘Bro I’m so sorry for your loss! I know this can’t be easy and I’m here if you need me.’
Loose Women star Denise Welch also commented: ‘So so sorry Jamie. You were there for me when my dad was so poorly. Sending all my love xxx.’
This comes after Jamie announced his engagement to girlfriend Jess Bell.
‘I had been planning it for a while and I wanted it to be perfect. We’d been in Lake Como a few weeks earlier but we both adore Mexico and I thought, “where better than in our favourite restaurant in our favourite resort in our favourite country?”‘, he told OK! Magazine.
Jess, 34, who works as a dentist, described her reaction and said: ‘Before I knew it there was this ring there and everyone was clapping and cheering. It was amazing; so wonderful and so very emotional.
