Graham Potter is excited to work with his new signing at Chelsea, Benoit Badiashile, who he says stands out for his physicality and being naturally left-footed.
The 21-year-old has arrived from Monaco in a deal worth around £33m and on a contract which will run for an incredible seven-and-a-half seasons.
Despite his youth, he has already played over 100 games for Monaco and picked up two caps for France, with Potter also hailing his experience at such a young age.
The promising defender is a huge physical presence at 6’4″ and his new manager couldn’t fail to notice the power he is set to bring to his squad, on the left of central defence.
‘He’s a young centre-back who’s played a few games already. Physically really good,’ Potter told Sky Sports.
‘Left-footed which is a profile we haven’t got so much. He comes into the squad and we’re excited to work with him.’
The new arrival in west London said: ‘I’m very happy to be here at Chelsea. I’m so excited to start playing for this club. I can’t wait to see the fans and start playing in the best league in the world.’
Chelsea chairman Todd Boehly and co-controlling owner Behdad Eghbali added: ‘We’re delighted to welcome Benoit to Chelsea. He’s an excellent young player who has quickly established a strong reputation for himself and has a huge amount of experience for his young age. We are sure he will form an important part of our team in the years ahead.’
