Run-off elections are held when no candidate wins the required majority of votes.
Under Georgia state rules, if no candidate gets more than 50 per cent of the vote, there is a second tie-breaking election, known as a run-off, four weeks later between the top contenders.
The race between Dem. Raphael Warnock and Rep. Herschel Walker is tight – and there are other candidates vying for votes.
So – because neither of them reached the golden 50% in the Tuesday midterm elections – the Republican and Democrat candidates will be forced into a one-on-one battle in Dec.
