GB News host Mark Steyn has resigned from this show over the channel’s Ofcom measures.
There are currently two ongoing investigations into the broadcaster’s programmes for a breach of standards and for misinformation over the coronavirus vaccine.
The latter relates to an interview between the 63-year-old and author and journalist Dr Naomi Wolf, which received 411 complaints from viewers.
The Canadian broadcaster has been off-air since suffering two heart attacks and explained in a video on his personal website he had been set to return.
Steyn added that network bosses ‘decided that we needed a defibrillator in the studio for me to be able to go back’ and claimed the terms of a new contract were changed.
The journalist alleged that he would be financially responsible for any potential Ofcom fines rather than GB News.

He claimed: ‘I’m on the hook for Ofcom fines but I don’t have any say in our defence against an Ofcom complaint – that’s all done by GB News.’
Steyn added that, in the event of a fine, he would be the ‘one who has to pay the £40,000 fine or whatever it is.’
A spokesperson for GB News said: ‘GB News takes Ofcom compliance extremely seriously. All our presenters are expected to comply fully with the Broadcast Code and there are no exceptions.

‘This does not impinge on our ability to ask tough questions, express strong opinions, and debate the issues that matter to the people of Britain.’

Steyn began presenting his own show on GB News in 2021, when it launched, having worked on US programmes including Tucker Carlson Tonight and the Rush Limbaugh Show.
He is not the first high-profile host to depart the station with original chairman Andrew Neil and former BBC presenter Simon McCoy having also quit their roles.
