Father of suspect in Georgia school shooting arrested
Colin Gray, 54, has been arrested following a school shooting in Winder, Georgia, where his 14-year-old son, Colt Gray, is accused of killing four people at Apalachee High School. Colin Gray faces serious charges including four counts of involuntary manslaughter, two counts of second-degree murder, and eight counts of cruelty to children.
Authorities plan to prosecute Colt Gray as an adult on four counts of murder. The shooting on Wednesday resulted in the deaths of two teachers and two students, with nine others injured.
Georgia Bureau of Investigation (GBI) Director Chris Hosey stated that the charges against Colin Gray are related to his son’s actions and the alleged provision of a weapon. Investigators are looking into whether Colin bought an AR-style weapon for his son in December 2023.
The FBI had previously flagged online threats related to a school shooting linked to the suspect’s email. Although Colin Gray informed police in May 2023 that he had firearms at home, he claimed his son did not have unsupervised access to them. Colt Gray is scheduled for his first court appearance on Friday.
