Arnold Schwarzenegger backs Caitlyn Jenner bid for California governor as Jenner says she opposes trans girls in women’s sport
Actor Arnold Schwarzenegger has backed reality TV star Caitlyn Jenner after she launched a bid to become governor of California.
Caitlyn will be taking on Democrat Gavin Newsom for the seat with Newsom facing a recall election following a Republican-led backlash against how he handled the pandemic.
Now Arnie has admitted he thinks Caitlyn can follow in his footsteps to become the latest celebrity-turned-politician.
Actor Arnie ousted the previous governor to be recalled and replaced Gray Davis as California’s leader in 2003.
He thinks Caitlyn can repeat his triumph if she presents a clear vision for California’s future.
Arnie says how the new governor would have to ring the changes to “straighten out all the mess we’re in right now.”
He said several hopefuls have contacted him for advice on how to run for the seat but refused to say if Caitlyn was one of them.
He says both Caitlyn and Gavin are good friends of his.
Caitlyn Jenner opposes trans girls in women’s sport as ‘unfair’
Caitlyn Jenner was caught off-guard with an impromptu interview with TMZ. The KUWTK star, now a Republican candidate for California governor says she opposes trans girls participating in women’s sport.
Caitlyn Jenner, who came out as a trans woman in 2015, told a reporter: “It just isn’t fair. And we have to protect girls’ sports in our schools.”
A number of US states are considering a ban on trans girls in women’s sports.
.@Caitlyn_Jenner, who is a transgender female, just said that transgender females should NOT be allowed to compete in female sports. I’d like to hear the Left call Caitlyn anti-trans! pic.twitter.com/sLsNAAFzfD
