Elon Musk completes $44bn Twitter takeover

Elon Musk has completed his $44bn takeover of Twitter, according to US media and an investor in the firm.

Musk tweeted “the bird is freed,” as reports come out that he’s fired a number of top executives, including the boss, Parag Agrawal.

Twitter has not yet confirmed the takeover.

Musk – the world’s richest man – is a self-styled “free speech absolutist” and has been critical of Twitter’s moderation policies and the news will be greeted with mixed feelings by Twitters user and employees.

It’s a big win for right-wing politics, and the many people on the right of US politics will celebrate the exit of Mr Agrawal as chief executive. They believe people like him and his predecessor Jack Dorsey are liberals trying to curtail free speech.
