Eberechi Eze has been in the form of his life for Crystal Palace in recent weeks, but he is not being distracted by transfer links to the likes of Liverpool, Tottenham and Newcastle.
The 24-year-old has really hit his stride since the return of Roy Hodgson at Palace, scoring six times since the veteran took charge of the Eagles again in late March.
That has taken the winger’s league goal tally to 10 for the season, comfortably his best so far in the top flight and there has inevitably been talk of a move to a bigger club.
The former QPR talent is under contract at Palace until 2025 so they are under no immediate pressure to sell and he says a summer move is not something that is on his mind at all.
‘I’m not really too bothered about that,’ Eze said of transfer links. ‘I’m just focusing on the present.
‘I want to continue enjoying it and contributing to the team as much as I can. I’m improving every game.’
The Premier League trio of Liverpool, Spurs and Newcastle have all been touted as possible destinations for Eze, while Paris Saint-Germain have also been mooted, such has been his sparkling form of late.
It has been a dramatic turnaround for the England Under-21 international as he was not even a guaranteed starter under previous boss Patrick Vieira, and he admits he struggled under the Frenchman.
‘I found it difficult at times,’ he said. ‘As a team we were going through a tough period so that’s natural to lack confidence. Since Roy has come in, it’s given me the freedom to express myself. I’ve obviously played for him before, so I understand exactly what he wants. That’s helped.
‘I feel like I’ve got the freedom to play, to do my thing. I’m just happy to be enjoying my football.’
