7 men sentenced to death for their roles in Bangladesh’s deadliest terror attack
CNN says seven men were sentenced to death by a court in Bangladesh after being found guilty of helping to organise the country’s deadliest ever-terrorist atrocity. One of the eight suspects was found not guilty.
More than 20 people were killed after five militants – including two police officers and several foreign hostages, were killed in a cafe in 2016.
The terrorists were killed by police when officers raided the cafe to bring an end to an hours-long stand-off.
All eight pleaded not guilty to the many crimes they were charged with including aiding and abetting a criminal organisation and participating in a criminal conspiracy.

‘Damages relations & sends the wrong signal to protesters’: Hong Kong ‘regrets’ Trump’s meddling in internal affairs
RT News reports Hong Kong has said a bill recently signed into law by President Trump, backing the ongoing unrest in the territory, will only inflame the situation. And they slammed Washington for meddling in the city’s affairs.
“The two bills are unreasonable,” a spokesman said in a statement on Wednesday, adding that despite one of the laws being named after ‘human rights’ and ‘democracy,’ “in fact some of the provisions relate to export control and Hong Kong’s implementation of United Nations sanctions.”
The statement acknowledges the US has “huge economic interests in Hong Kong,” and the spokesman said the “government hopes that the US… will adopt a pragmatic attitude.”

Iraq condemns attack on Iranian consulate in Najaf
Aljazeera says, anti-government protesters, stormed and set fire to the Iranian consulate in the southern city of Najaf on Wednesday. Iraq has condemned the actions of the protesters as the political turmoil continues to escalate.
Staff at the consulate evacuated before the attack in the holy city.
The attack strongly expressed the anti-Iranian sentiment by Iraqi demonstrators. They have been protesting for weeks in Baghdad and Shia-Muslim-majority south. Hundreds have been killed by Iraqi security forces.

Harry Dunn: Parents begin legal proceedings against the Foreign Office
BBC News says Harry Dunn’s family have begun their legal proceeding against the Foreign and Commonwealth Office (FCO).
Harry, 19 died in a crash in August which led to the suspect, Anne Sacoolas, leaving for the USA under diplomatic immunity.
His parents have filed a claim for judicial review in the High Court in London against Foriegn Secretary Dominic Raab.
The family spokesman said: “The parents have done everything physically within their power to avoid having to sue the FCO.
“There have been repeated public and private attempts on our part to engage with those in authority to resolve this dispute amicably.”

Jaden Moodie: 14-year-old stabbed nine times and left to die, court hears
The Guardian says a child was hunted down by a drug gang who rammed him to the ground with a car before stabbing him with three knives and leaving him to bleed to death, a jury has heard.
Jaden Moodie, 14, was a dealer for a rival gang. He was riding a moped in January 2019 in London when he was knocked off it and attacked. He suffered horrific injuries from nine stab wounds inflicted in seven seconds as he lay defenceless in the road.
Ayoub Majdouline, 19, denies the murder on 8 January this year in London and denies a charge of carrying a knife.
