You would be forgiven for thinking this dog was looking to sign up to the police’s K-9 unit.
But instead the clever animal managed to stroll into Loughborough Police Station after she ran away from her owner while on a walk on Friday.
CCTV captured the moment Rosie the border collie wandered through the automatic doors and had a little sniff, before settling down in the corner to patiently wait.
Surprised police officers checked her collar which had her owner’s name and number on it.
An hour later, Rosie was reunited with her owner.
Leicestershire Police said: ‘Thankfully she was wearing a collar, so a lead was available to contact Rosie’s owner, who was delighted she had been found safe and well.
‘Rosie was being walked nearby with a second dog when she managed to wander off. What a lovely, clever dog.

‘Our staff fetched some water for Rosie, and made fast friends with plenty of fuss.’
Police posted the footage to their Facebook page and people were delighted to find out Rosie had been reunited with her owner.
Although the pet was returned to her owner within one hour, the same cannot be said for a police dog who went missing last year in Norfolk.
Juno, a German short-haired pointer, is part of the team at Norfolk Lowland Search and Rescue where she helps sniff out missing people – but she went missing herself in December 2021.
The search dog went into a reed bed and didn’t return on December 21.
But six days later she was found safe and well in a wooded area, in a Christmas miracle.
