Eight people die at sea in 24 hours while trying to reach Spain
Aljazeera reports eight people, including three women, drowned while trying to cross the Mediterranean Sea from Morocco to Spain.
Seven bodies were retrieved on Monday by the Moroccan coastguard vessel and the eighth body was found on Tuesday by the Spanish police.
The coastguard vessel rescued 70 survivors, including 10 women and a baby, who were found in a “very poor state.” They have been sent for medical care.
Around 24 people are still missing after the boat, carrying around 100 migrants capsized overnight. Spain is a key entry point for migrants seeking a better life in Europe.

Islamic rights body denounces Indian citizenship bill
Arab News says The Independent Permanent Human Rights Commission (IPHRC) of the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation on Tuesday strongly condemned the violence and loss of life in the wake of peaceful protests against the Indian governments Citizenship Amendment Bill. 
The commission said that Muslims and non-Muslims alike across India have rejected the CAB. They say it is biased, discriminatory and diversionary and it goes against the Indian constitution.
The IPHRC welcomed the assertions of the Office of the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights that CAB is “fundamentally discriminatory in nature.”

Pope’s Christmas message: “God continues to love us all, even the worst of us”
France24 says Pope Francis ushered in Christmas celebrations for the world’s 1.3 billion Catholics on Tuesday. He said the celebration of Jesus’s birth reminded humanity how “God continues to love us all, even the worst of us.” 
Speaking to crowds gathered at the Vatican for his Christmas Eve Mass, he said: “You may have mistaken ideas, you may have made a complete mess of things, but the Lord continues to love you.”

Suspect in bar stabbings that killed 2, including the brother of NFL QB added to the most-wanted list
Fox News reports a man is wanted in the fatal stabbing of the brother of San Franciso 49ers quarterback C.J Beathard and another man. He is now one of Tennessee’s most wanted criminal suspects, authorities said. 
Micheal Mosley, 23, is wanted for two counts of criminal homicide and one count of attempted homicide. He was added to the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation’s Most Wanted list just hours after police announced charges against him.
The stabbings took place at a Nashville bar and resulted in the deaths of Clayton Beathard, 22 and Paul Trapeni III, 21. A third victim, who was not identified suffered injuries to his eye and arm.

Welby to reflect on London Bridge Terror attack
BBC News says The Archbishop of Canterbury is to reflect on the London Bridge Terror attack in his Christmas Day sermon. 
Justin Welby will say “darkness is a monster that lies” compared with “love-filled whispers of the light.”
Jack Merritt, 25 and Saskia Jones, 23, were stabbed to death in a terror attack near London Bridge last month.
The archbishop is also expected to reflect on his recent visit to Beni and its efforts to tackle a recent Ebola virus outbreak.

‘I’m not going to stay silent’ vows TV presenter Caroline Flack
Sky News reports Caroline Flack has vowed not to be “silenced” after pleading not guilty to attacking her boyfriend Lewis Burton with a lamp. 
The 40-year-old, who hosted ITV’s Love Island, revealed in an Instagram post that she had “been advised not to go on social media.”
But she added: “I wanted to say happy Christmas to everyone who has been so incredibly kind to me this year.
“This kind of scrutiny and speculation is a lot to take on for one person to take on their own.
“I’m a human being at the end of the day and I’m not going to be silenced when I have a story to tell and a life to keep going with.”
