US AFGHAN ENVOY TAKES PUSH FOR PEACE TO PAKISTAN
Arab News reports Washington’s Afghan peace envoy remained in Pakistan on Tuesday as part of efforts to find a negotiated end to Afghanistan’s 18-year-war. But President Trump has not expressed any interest in resuming talks with the Taliban.
The envoy met with Pakistan’s PM Imran Khan on Monday and is expected to hold talks with the country’s most powerful military chief on Tuesday.

GIRL,11, CHARGED AFTER ELEMENTARY SCHOOL TEACHER STABBED IN AUSTRALIA
CNN reports an 11-year-old girl has been charged with wounding and knife possession after a teacher was stabbed at an elementary school in Australia on Monday.
Shortly before midday, police were called to the school in Heatley following reports that a student had stabbed a teacher. Officers used a stun gun on the child during the incident. The teacher, 56 was taken to the hospital with a “small non-life-threatening wound on the back of her shoulder,” according to Queensland Police.

CALIFORNIA WILDFIRE: CELEBRITIES FLEE, MULTIMILLION-DOLLAR HOMES BURN IN LA
France 24 reports on the fast-moving wildfire that has destroyed at least five multi-million-dollar homes in one of the wealthiest neighbourhoods in LA. And celebrities have been forced to flee the area in the middle of the night.
Brentwood, one of the most affluent areas on the westside of LA was under evacuation orders. Brentwood is home to basketball star LeBron James, A-list Hollywood actors, wealthy producers and media company executives.

FRANCE MOSQUE SHOOTING: MAN ARRESTED AFTER MOSQUE ATTACK
Aljazeera News says French authorities have arrested a man suspected of shooting and seriously wounding two men in their 70s outside a mosque in southwest France, police have said.
An 84-year-old man shot the two victims, aged 74 and 78 when they found him trying to set fire to a mosque in Bayonne, a police statement said on Monday.
The suspected shooter has been identified as Claude Sinke. He was later arrested near him home. And had also set fire to a car outside the Mosque. The victims were taken to a nearby hospital with serious injuries.

PC CLEARED OF BEATING ‘YELLOW VEST’ PROTESTER DURING CLASHES
BBC News reports a Met police officer has been found not guilty of beating a protester at a pro-Brexit “yellow vest” march. PC Connor Pennery, 27, was accused of assaulting Terrence Dwyer, 53, in central London while arresting him on 16 February. The judge said Mr Dwyer “threw punches at police officers.” And thought “events were not quite as Mr Dwyer described.”
Mr Dwyer alleged PC Pennery had “punched (him) in the face three times.. then stood up and dropped my face with his knee” as he was being restrained and arrested. But the court heard Mr Dwyer was being arrested after having twice punched PC Pennery.

GRENFELL REPORT SLAMS FIRE CHIEF & SAYS MORE PEOPLE COULD HAVE BEEN SAVED
The Sun says the first official report into the Grenfell Tower fire will say more people could have been saved. But “serious shortcomings” and systemic” failures suffered by the London Fire Brigade stopped that from happening.
The report is due to be published on Wednesday. It will also accuse the brigade’s commissioner Dany Cotton of “remarkable insensitivity” after she told the inquiry she would not change decisions made on the night.
