In today’s briefing update, we start with the story of a young doctor who was brutally raped and murdered in India. The doctor found herself stranded in a town due to a flat tire. A group of men offered to “help.”
Two Syrians, being smuggled in Slovenia heading towards Italy, have died after the driver lost control of the vehicle. In total, eight people were being smuggled in the car. A third – who was also in the trunk – is in a critical condition.

‘I’m so scared!’ India shocked by the brutal rape & murder of a young doctor, tear up over her last words
RT News says the charred remains of the missing Indian veterinary doctor have been found beneath an overpass. The doctor was abducted and raped on her way to work in yet another attack that has shocked India.
Priyanka Reddy, 26, found herself stranded in the town of Shamshabad after she suffered a flat tire on her motorbike on her way to work on Wednesday. A group of men reportedly offered to “help.” Reddy’s sister said she had last talked to her sometime in the evening.
By Thursday morning Reddy’s badly-burned corpse was discovered by locals. The woman’s family could only identify her by a locket she was wearing.

Syrians, smuggled in a car trunk, die in Slovenia crash
Arab News says two Syrians died in a car crash on Thursday. They were being smuggled in the trunk of a car. The accident happened just after midnight on the highway from the capital Ljubljana toward Italy when the driver lost control of the vehicle.
In the car were eight Syrians the driver was attempting to smuggle in – as the number of those sneaking into the EU has increased.
Three of the 8 were in the trunk and were thrown out after the car hit a fence and flipped over. The third victim is still in a ‘critical’ condition.

Iraqi prime minister orders investigations as deadly protests rage on
CNN says Iraqi Prime Minister Adil Abdul Mahdi has ordered an investigation into the violence that has left 31 people dead this week in the ongoing anti-government protests.
In a statement from the PM’s office, it said a dedicated committee will be formed and led by Mahdi’s military adviser.
The news comes after Iran called on Iraqi authorities to respond “firmly and effectively” to protesters who attacked Tehran’s consulate in the southern city of Najaf on Wednesday.
The protests have raged on since October 1. The anti-government movement is in response to alleged government corruption and a rejection of Iranian involvement in the country’s affairs.

French lawmakers push to ban Black Friday sales citing ‘overconsumption’
France24 reports French activists blocked an Amazon warehouse south of Paris in a Black Friday-inspired protest, amid increased opposition to the US sales phenomenon. Furthermore, a group of French lawmakers are trying to ban the famous sales altogether.
Protesters from a climate group spread hay and old refrigerators and microwaves on the driveway leading to the warehouse on Thursday. They held up signs reading “Amazon: For the climate, for jobs, stop expansion, stop over-production!”
The activists were later dislodged by police. More activists are expected on Black Friday, as French climate groups are planning “Block Friday” demonstrations for the post-Thanksgiving spending splurge.

General election 2019: Row over Boris Johnson debate ’empty chair’
BBC News says the Tory party is embroiled in a row with Channel 4 over the broadcaster’s decision to “empty chair” the prime minister. Channel 4 was hosting its election debate on climate change last night.
The party wrote to Ofcom saying placing an ice sculpture on the PM’s podium was a “provocative partisan stunt.” Michel Gove had offered to take Boris Johnson’s place but the broadcaster said the invitation was for leaders only.
Labour accused Mr Johnson of “hiding from scrutiny.”
The Conservative party, hoping the regulator takes action against Channel 4, accused the broadcaster of breaking its duty to be impartial and citing other alleged examples of bias.
