Evil Stephen will meet his downfall (eventually!) (Picture: ITV)
Coronation Street fans can all breathe a sigh of relief as it has been confirmed from the top that evil killer Stephen Reid will get his comeuppance.
Stephen (Todd Boyce), the illegitimate son of Audrey Roberts (Sue Nicholls) and Geoff Masters, has made brief appearances in Weatherfield in the past, giving both nephew and niece Nick Tilsley (Ben Price) and Sarah Platt (Tina O’Brien) their starts in the business world, but his true colours have been revealed since June 2022.
Since arriving for his longest stint yet on the cobbles, Stephen’s money troubles have seen him try to fleece both his mother and Rovers owner Jenny Connor (Sally Ann Matthews), before ultimately killing her boyfriend Leo Thompkins (Joe Frost) after he sussed out what was going on.
Having now successfully gotten his hands on the equity in 5 Grasmere Drive in cash, he’s also attempted to kill Leo’s father Teddy (Grant Burgin) on more than one occasion after he started having suspicions too – finally killing him by smacking him over the head with the back of a hole puncher.
So what’s next for Corrie’s latest villain, and who might be in danger now?
Coronation Street top boss Iain MacLeod appeared on Wednesday’s episode of Loose Women to answer viewers’ questions and tease what was coming up on the soap.

Panellist Denise Welch, herself an ex-Corrie star as Natalie Barnes, revealed to Iain that the show had had ‘an unprecedented amount’ of calls and emails from people all wanting to know the same thing – will Stephen get his comeuppance.
As the studio audience booed, Iain laughed: ‘Oh, it’s almost like being on a pantomime! Is he behind me?’
Reassuring viewers that justice was on the way, he added: ‘Of course he is. It’s a soap, bad guys always get their comeuppance in the end, don’t they?

‘So yes, 100%. There’s a lot of fun to be had between now and then I will say.’
Teasing what was on the horizon, he explained: ‘As we’re starting to see this week, he’s developing a new feud with one of our most popular characters, a feisty female character Carla (Alison King), so he’s going to go head-to-head with her for a while, which I think I’m really going to enjoy.’
‘There’s a little way to go yet. He’s going to get up to more mischief, to put it mildly, but yes, in the end all bad guys meet their fate,’ he promised.

Stephen has already started his ploy to bring down Carla as they battle over the Underworld factory, lacing her drink with LSD in the hopes that people begin to think her psychosis has returned, following the episode she had after the collapse of the building’s roof in 2019.
So how much danger could she be in?
