Coldplay paid tribute to the late, great Tina Turner in the most epic way as they dedicated their concert to her in Barcelona, Spain.
News of Turner’s death shocked the world earlier this week, as it was announced on Wednesday (May 24) that she had ‘died peacefully’ at the age of 83.
Her representatives confirmed in a statement that she died in her home in Kusnacht near Zurich, Switzerland, following a ‘long illness’.
Tributes poured in for the rock ‘n’ roll queen from fans and famous friends around the world, with the likes of Cher, Beyoncé, and even former President Barack Obama expressing their sadness and reflecting on her epic career.
Meanwhile, Chris Martin’s band took to the stage at Estadi Olimpic Lluis Company just hours after news of the superstar’s death broke.
To honour her memory, not only did they dedicate the entire show to her, they also performed an incredible acoustic cover of Proud Mary, the Creedence Clearwater Revival tune covered by Ike and Turner back in 1971.

According to Billboard, frontman Chris, 46, dedicated the set to ‘the beautiful Tina Turner’ before belting out his own version of the famous song, with the thousands-strong crowd belting out every lyric.
Video footage of the powerful moment is truly a sight to behold, with the venue clapping along as Chris and co. remembered the music icon.
The following night on stage in Barcelona, they covered another of Turner’s hits, singing What’s Love Got to Do with It while the crowd lit up the stadium with flashlights.
‘Why this got me so emotional’, one person tweeted along with a video.
‘Seriously…they are true gentlemen…such a class act’, another praised.

‘Thanks Coldplay! Too awesome. Tina would be smiling on that honour’, another fan tweeted.
Coldplay aren’t the only ones to cover a Turner song since she died.
Also this week, Lizzo honoured Turner at her show in Phoenix, Arizona by singing Proud Mary.
The Juice hitmaker told the crowd: ‘There wouldn’t be no rock ’n’ roll without Tina Turner!
‘Today, we lost an icon and I haven’t allowed myself to be sad. I haven’t allowed myself to cry.

Tributes have poured in from around the world, with a later statement from Turner’s reps confirming her death was from natural causes (Picture: PA)
‘I don’t want to right now because I’d much rather celebrate the incredible legend Tina Turner is.’
‘As a Black girl in a rock band, I would not exist if it were not for the Queen of Rock ‘n’ Roll’, she declared proudly.
Yesterday (May 25), it was confirmed that Turner’s death was from natural causes.
Her health struggles were well documented as, in 2016, she was diagnosed with intestinal cancer and wrote in her memoir that she considered assisted suicide.
