Chris Kamara has urged I’m A Celebrity…Get Me Out of Here! critics to ease up on Matt Hancock after the politician’s stint continues to divide the nation.
The sitting MP joined the likes of Boy George, Chris Moyles and Mike Tindall on this year’s show as late arrival alongside comedian Seann Walsh.
Hancock stepped down from his health secretary post last year after CCTV footage of him kissing his aide Gina Coladangelo and ultimately broke social distancing guidelines.
The scandal sent shockwaves through Westminster, which prompted intense backlash and widespread calls for him to go.
Fans and fellow celebrities have branded Hancock’s cameo on the ITV series ‘disgraceful,’ and during his time in the jungle he has faced six consecutive gruesome bushtucker trials, and was even elected camp leader.
Despite the mounting backlash, football pundit Kamara believes the politician should be judged by his actions on the TV show.

Speaking exclusively at Tuesday’s ITV Palooza, he told Metro.co.uk: ‘People can’t forget what happened, but judge him on the camp, that’s how I do it.
‘Whatever happened before, he’s gone in there and given it his all, so cut him some slack.’
On Tuesday, pictures revealed an aircraft above the set of the reality programme with a massive 35 metre banner that read: ‘Covid bereaved say get out of here!’
A spokesperson for Hancock told Metro.co.uk that he continues to support the Covid inquiry and he’ll continue to meet all the deadlines.

‘Matt has already handed over his phone and given full access to all his emails and text messages, when requested by Parliament.’
It was recently reported that Hancock could potentially be in the running to be crowned King of the Jungle with his odds cut from 14/1 to 6/1, which has him tied with Owen Warner in third place behind Mike Tindall (3/1) and current favourite Jilly Scott (6/5).

Betfair spokesperson Sam Rosbottom said: ‘Matt Hancock’s odds on winning this year’s I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here! have been slashed again from 14/1 to 6/1 after being 33/1 before he entered camp.
‘He’s proving to be even more controversial after being voted Camp Leader in Sunday’s episode and is loving the spotlight.
I’m A Celebrity…Get Me Out of Here! continues tonight at 9pm on ITV.
