Burning Man: Police investigating death during heavy rain

A man has died at the Burning Man festival in Nevada, USA.

No details about the man’s death have been given, but an investigation has been launched.

Thousands of people remained stranded at the event after torrential rain turned the ground into deep, slippery mud. Roads in and out are closed as vehicles can barely drive on it.

Burning Man festival is used to dry and dusty conditions as it is held in the Black Rock Desert.

More rain is expected and authorities say it could be several days before the ground dries up enough for people to leave.

Those still stuck at the festival have been told to conserve their food and water.

The festival’s toilets are also out of use, according to those in attendance, because the service vehicles cannot drive on the mud to empty them.
