666 quarts of blood are required to unlock a sweepstakes competition where the grand prize is a Diablo 4 PC infused with human blood.
In case you missed it, Diablo 4’s second season of content, Season of Blood, began just a week ago, which introduced a new questline, new vampiric powers, and several quality of life updates. Not to mention it coincided with the game’s arrival on Steam.
As a means to promote it, Activision Blizzard has announced a thematically appropriate but frankly batty (no pun intended) competition where the grand prize is a custom-made PC. That sounds normal until you learn that said PC is infused with actual human blood… no, they don’t explain who gave up their blood for it.
However, this prize will only become available once enough people have donated their own blood and collectively pooled 666 quarts of it. That’s just over 630 litres.
The way it works is that until November 20, any US residents over the age of 18 can give blood at any blood donation centre. Then, they can submit proof of their donation (like a confirmation email) on the Diablo 4 website, which will be added to a tally.
The good news is that you don’t need to donate blood to be in for a chance to win the PC. The bad news is that this sweepstakes competition is exclusive to US residents.
However, Activision Blizzard adds that in-game rewards for Diablo 4 can be unlocked for all players once certain milestones are hit, which will then be distributed on November 22.
33% of the total goal unlocks five weapons cosmetics, 66% of the goal unlocks a barbarian armour cosmetic, and reaching 100% unlocks a Vermilion Eye Piebald mount.

At the time of writing, fans have already donated enough blood to reach the 27% mark. You can keep track of it yourself over on the Diablo 4 website and you can learn more details about the various unlockables via this blog post.
As for the Season of Blood itself, things are off to a rocky start. The season had to be delayed by a few hours due to technical issues and earlier today, it was announced on the Blizzard forums that trading has been disabled thanks to a duplication glitch that affected items and gold.
Diablo 4 is available for Xbox One, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X/S, PlayStation 5, and PC.
