Blackouts caused by targeted Russian attacks – Zelensky
Ukraine’s president Volodymyr Zelensky has blamed Russia for causing power cuts across the east in revenge for a Ukrainian counter-offence.
Millions of people have been affected by blackouts in the eastern Kharkiv and Donetsk regions.
It comes after Ukraine said it has retaken over 3,000 sq km in a counter-offensive.
Russian attacks on civilian infrastructures left much of Kharkiv without power or water on Saturday.
Kharkiv mayor Ihor Terekhov said it was a vile and cynical attempt at revenge.
Zelensky said 1,000 sq km had been retaken on Thursday, the number rose to 2,000 sq km by Saturday evening, then to 3,000 on Sunday.
Journalists have been denied access to the front lines but videos circulating on social media show Ukrainian troops in towns and villages that were previously held by Russia.
