Billie Lourd has paid tribute to her late mother Carrie Fisher on the sixth anniversary of her death, expressing her grief at the ‘magical moments’ she is missing with her grandchildren.
Star Wars actress Fisher died on December 27, 2016 at the age of 60 after suffering cardiac arrest. Her actress mother Debbie Reynolds then died the following day aged 84 following a stroke.
It’s been a joyous time for Billie, 30, in recent weeks after she welcomed a baby girl, her second child with husband Austen Rydell, who she also shares son Kingston, two, with.
However, the special moments have also been mired in sadness with the realisation that her mother, Fisher, isn’t around to share the memories.
In a poignant Instagram post, the American Horror Story actress wrote on the sixth anniversary of Fisher’s death: ‘It has been 6 years since my Momby died (feels like 2 but also like 705 at the same time?). And unlike most other years since she’s died, this year, these past two weeks have been some of the most joyful of my life.
‘Giving birth to my daughter and watching my son meet her have been two of the most magical moments I have ever experienced. But with the magic of life tends to come the reality of grief.’
She added: ‘My mom is not here to meet either of them and isn’t here to experience any of the magic. Sometimes the magical moments can also be the hardest. That’s the thing about grief.’
The TV star explained that she is ‘holding onto the magic harder’ and ‘hug[ing] my kids a little tighter’ in the absence of her own mother.
Billie revealed how she tells her children stories about Fisher and ‘how much she would have loved them’.

‘For anyone out there experiencing the reality of grief alongside the magic of life, I see you. You are not alone. Don’t ignore either. Life can be magical and griefy [sic] at the same time,’ she concluded.
The actress was supported by the likes of Emily In Paris star Lily Collins, who commented: ‘Sending the most love to you.’
Smallville actor Michael Rosenbaum wrote: ‘Beautiful Billie. Perfectly said. miss her very much. she would be the proudest mom every and she was. much love, Michael.’
AHS creator Ryan Murphy and supermodel Naomi Campbell were among others who sent love to Billie.
