Biden considers sanctions against ISRAELI SETTLERS

US President Joe Biden says that the U.S. is prepared to impose sanctions on Israeli settlers who are involved in attacks against Palestinians in the West Bank.

Biden considers sanctions against ISRAELI SETTLERS

“The United States is prepared to take our own steps, including issuing visa bans against extremists attacking civilians in the West Bank.”

    President Joe Biden

This would be the first time the U.S. publicly considered individual sanctions against settlers.

The West Bank is under siege with more illegal settlements

The West Bank has seen a surge of invading Israeli settlers. Since October 7th, the Israeli regime has invaded and bombed the Gaza Strip, and as a result, the massacre of Palestinians in Gaza has dominated the news headlines.

During this period the IDF has launched a second invasion in the West Bank, where violence and occupation against Palestinians in the West Bank has increased.

Biden also talked about the future of Gaza and said it should be unified with the West Bank and led by a revised Palestinian Authority.

How can the Israelis take Palestinian land in the West Bank?

The West Bank is part of Palestine, where illegal Israeli settlers drive into Palestinian land, under the protection of the IDF and take over Palestinian homes and lands.

Once the Israelis take over the property the Palestinians are forced out and moved into the sheds or basements. The homes are not purchased, they are taken back based on a Fascist idealogy that provides the Israelis with a superior right to the land, because they are Jewish.

In each settlement, the Israeli Defence Force (IDF) builds a command and control post which is there to protect the Israelis.

The Palestinians aren’t able to take this issue up to the courts and claim their lands back, as they have not been issued with any form of identity, which is necessary before anyone can submit a legal case in court.

The Palestinians are second-class citizens with many Israeli political and media outlets calling for their ‘extermination like vermin’.

Will Biden follow through on his threat?

This radical move comes after a month of pressure and protests in the United States and around the world. Leading to the US President taking a stance against the Israeli Netanyahu regime.

Although, President Biden has made a surprising statement, political analysts believe, it is little more than just ‘lip service’.

He will not act beyond this, publically at least, so close to the 2024 presidential election. President Biden has felt the wrath of the Israeli political lobby, in fact, in Knesset the Israelis debated whether or not to continue their support for the Democrats, because of some of his comments especially in private, where he has flandered calling for a ceasefire.
