Becky Hill has admitted that she was so nervous for her last interview with Lorraine Kelly, it turned into ‘one of the worst’ she had ever done.
The singer first appeared on The Voice during it’s first season back in 2012, impressing judges in her audition when covering John Legend’s Ordinary People.
But nearly a decade on, an interview with Lorraine in 2020 still managed to leave her nervous in front of the cameras.
Speaking about what went down when returning to the show on Wednesday, Becky said she had always struggled with her confidence during interviews.
‘The last time I was on this very show I use it as an example of one of the worst interviews I’ve ever given,’ she explained.
‘No that’s not true, that’s not true at all, you were so lovely,’ Lorraine responded.

However, Becky recalled that she had ‘repeated myself so many times’ and said a friend had even jokingly made a compilation of ‘all the times’ she had said “for sure” during the five minute interview.
‘I was so nervous the last time I came on the show,’ she explained.
But, as Lorraine comforted her, the presenter added it ‘wasn’t easy to sit there and talk about yourself…we are British and not very good at it’.
‘It’s terrifying,’ Becky said.
However, the singer said that taking part in the new music talent series Project Icon, in which she acts as a mentor alongside Jason DeRulo and his long-term manager Frank Harris, made her wish a similar format had been around when she was younger.
In this series, she explained that contestants went through a ‘pop star boot camp’ to learn the skills to make it in the music industry, including challenges that revolved around song writing, music videos and interviews.
‘This is the kind of training I wish I had when I was 17 on The Voice,’ she said.
‘I had to do a lot of that on the job.
‘What is great about this show we give people to make these mistakes in a nurtured situation.’

When speaking to Lorraine, Becky also added that she had to learn a lot by trial and error, which also saw her do ‘a bunch of music videos I did not like.’
‘What I like to feel we have here is giving people the tools to be let out into the real world,’ she said of her new show.
