Arnold Schwarzenegger has pointed blame at a ‘careless’ cyclist for a crash which she claims left her with ‘severe injuries’.

The actor, 76, was involved in a collision in February last year with a woman on a bikerwhile driving in Los Angeles.

At the time, law enforcement said the Terminator star had accidentally hit the woman when she took a left turn in front of Schwarzenegger’s SUV before he had a chance to brake.

He was said to have been travelling at a slow speed, according to TMZ, who reported the incident at the time.

The actor is now being sued by the woman, Joanne Flickinger, who has claimed he was driving ‘negligently’ on San Vicente Boulevard in Hollywood.

However, he’s now filed a response and wants the civil suit thrown out of court, insisting what unfolded wasn’t his fault.

Responding to the complaint, which had seen him accused of driving ‘with excessive speed and [failing] to keep a proper lookout’, he argued in documents obtained by Radar Online that Flickinger ‘was so careless and negligent about the matters alleged’.

He added that any injuries that the biker suffered were a result of a ‘third party’ and he was not responsible.

In addition to asking that the lawsuit be thrown out, he has also requested that he be reimbursed for his court costs.

In her complaint, the cyclist alleged the collision caused her ‘severe injuries’ which are ‘permanent’, however it is unclear what they entail.

She is seeking damages exceeding $25,000 (£19,750) for ‘past and future pain and suffering, emotional distress; past and future loss of earnings; past and future loss of earning capacity; past and future medical expenses; past and future healthcare expenses; past and future incidental expenses; and past and future household services’.

At the time of the accident, law enforcement sources told TMZ: ‘The woman made a left turn in front of Arnold before he had a chance to hit his brakes and he was not going very fast at all.’

While she was transported to hospital, the actor took her bicycle for repairs at a local bike shop.

LAPD Officer Mike Lopez told The LA Times in February that ‘no crime was committed’, adding the cyclist didn’t have life-threatening injuries.

This is the second car accident Schwarzenegger has been involved in over the past year.

He is also being sued by a woman, Cheryl Augustine, who said she was left ‘permanently disabled’ when the pair crashed in LA on January 21, 2023.

At the time police said that no arrests were made and the crash did not appear to involve any form of DUI.
